Brazilian giants Santos have confirmed they are interested in hiring French midfielder Florent Malouda.
The French international was recently released from his contract at Chelsea, meaning he is now free to talk to interested clubs.
Malouda was linked with a move to Vasco da Gama earlier this month, but Record claims Santos have joined the race as well.
The 32-year-old is currently on holiday in Brazil and has met with Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro to negotiate a possible deal.
The player’s high wage could prove to be a problem, although he is reportedly ready to lower his demands.
Santos boss Muricy Ramalho has admitted he would love to have a player like Florent Malouda at the club.
“He is a different player and it would be great to have him,” Ramalho was quoted as saying in Record.
The Brazilian giants have already stayed without Elano, Borges and Alan Kardec, with Paulo Henrique Ganso also nearing the exit door.
Florent Malouda has scored a total of 35 goals in 149 Premier League games for Chelsea.
