Brazilian media outlet UOL is reporting that Santos are set for another windfall following Neymar’s transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.
As part of FIFA’s “solidarity contribution for an international transfer”, a player’s past clubs are entitled to share 5% of the transfer fee each time he joins a new club, and latest reports suggest that Santos should receive around €9 million.
Neymar recently joined PSG in world-record €222 million deal, but the Saints have yet to make the solidarity payment.
Nonetheless, Santos chairman Modesto Roma jr has confirmed the French club have apologised for the delay and that they expect the payment soon.
Neymar has already began to prove his worth to the Parc des Princes outfit, having managed 5 goals and as many assists in his first five outings for the new club.
