Brazilian Serie A leaders Palmeiras were held to a goalless draw at Sao Paulo on Sunday, but remained on top as second-placed Goias crashed 4-0 at Internacional.

The derby of Sao Paulo ended the same way it had started, with no goals on the scoreboard. Palmeiras will be the happier side as their kept their local rivals at a distance of four points.

Goias travelled to visit Internacional in Porto Alegre and suffered a painful 4-0 defeat with goals from Marquinhos, Pablo Guiñazu, Giuliano and Kleber. Goias’ Fernandao was sent off in the 12th minute.

Although Goias remain in second place at three points from Palmeiras, the latter will be more worried about Internacional who are four points behind but have a game in hand.
