Sao Paulo were held to a surprise 1-1 draw at Santo Andre on Sunday, while Goias earned a convincing 1-4 win at Corinthians.

Second-placed Sao Paulo hoped to apply pressure on leaders Palmeiras, who don’t play until Thursday, but failed to do so as they only managed a draw at Santo Andre.

Jean did put Sao Paulo in the lead after seven minutes but Bolivian Pablo Escobar leveled the score in the 71st.

Goias, fourth, were never really troubled in their match at Corinthians. Iarley scored the opening goal after eight minutes, and Fernando made it 0-2 in the 23rd before Iarley added another five minutes after the break.

Dentinho then got one back for Corinthians in minute 74 but Joao Paulo restored the original three-point gap four minutes later.

Palmeiras share their top spot with Sao Paulo, but could go three points clear against Cruzeiro later this week.
