Atletico Madrid have signed Joao Felix from Benfica, but he is not the only player moving across the border to the Spanish capital. One of the oddest moves of this summer transfer window is the arrival of Ivan Saponjic at Wanda Metropolitano. Serbian youngster is apparently part of the deal for Joao Felix and the worth of the transfer should be around one million euros.
Saponjic signed for Benfica back in 2016 from Partizan Belgrade, after winning U20 World Cup in 2015 with Serbia, but has failed to make an impression in the senior team. Last season he spent at Benfica B, playing in Portuguese second tier, scoring six goals in 28 league appearances. The player has already passed the medical in Madrid and some media in Portugal even claim Benfica will get 50 per cent of Saponjic’s next potential transfer.
It is also believed that the fact Ivan Saponjic and Jan Oblak have the same agent made a huge impact in this transfer to happen.
