According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is facing the sack at Stamford Bridge. Roman Abramovich is said to be considering his options regarding the Italian’s future at the club, following a season which has involved plenty of ups and downs. Roma and AC Milan are two clubs who have voiced their interest in bringing Sarri on board, but regardless of all that, the bigger question is whether or not he deserves to be sacked in the first place. Sarri was able to guide the Blues to third place in the Premier League, he reached the League Cup final, and they’ve got the Europa League final coming up in a matter of weeks.
It’s not the most successful debut season we’ve ever seen in English football, but it has certainly been better than most when you analyse the evidence.
Either way, the immediate future of Sarri is worth keeping an eye on.
