According to a recent report from Sky Italy, Maurizio Sarri has turned down an approach to become Marseille’s new manager.
The club are on the hunt for new managerial candidates after they suspended Andre Villas-Boas earlier in the week, which occurred when AVB criticised the board for signing Oliver Ntcham over his head before offering his resignation.
Sarri, who has notably managed Chelsea and Juventus as of late, seemingly wasn’t interested in getting involved with this situation – which makes sense, given how hostile this whole thing is turning out to be.
Villas-Boas quite clearly has every right to be annoyed but at the same time, Marseille feel the need to act quickly and decisively – even if it isn’t in the best interests of the fans, or AVB himself.
Sarri may not be the answer to their problem but you can bet he wasn’t the only manager they’ve been in contact with.
