AC Milan beat Sassuolo 3-0 away from home on Sunday to win the Serie A title this season.
Olivier Giroud scored twice, and Franck Kessie found the back of the net once for Milan at Mapei Stadium – Citta del Tricolore.
Milan finished the second top of Serie A with 86 points from 38 matches, two points ahead of last season’s champions and city rivals Inter Milan.
Here are the three things we learned:
AC Milan are a force again
AC Milan are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the Rossoneri winning the Scudetto after 11 years means that they are back to being a force again on the pitch. Winning the Scudetto ahead of Inter Milan and Juventus is a brilliant manager, and now the fans will hope that the team kick on in the Champions League.
Gianluca Scamacca too good for Sassuolo
Gianluca Scamacca scored 16 goals in Serie A this season and is 23 years of age at the moment. The Italy international striker showed this season that he belongs to a top club, and that he has outgrown Sassuolo. We should not be surprised if Scamacca moves to a new club in the summer transfer window.
Stefano Pioli appointment pays off
Stefano Pioli was appointed the AC Milan head coach in the summer of 2019. It has three years, but the Italian tactical has finally done it – he has won the Scudetto with Milan. The Rossoerni finished sixth in his first season in charge and ended up second in 2020-21. Milan have progressed season on season under Pioli.
