Although Manchester United might have found themselves at the heart of another media storm, Erik ten Hag’s side certainly claimed a heavyweight boost in midweek. Putting in an eye-catching performance at Old Trafford as they claimed a 2-1 win against historic rivals Chelsea, the former Ajax boss will now be calling on his squad to break back into the top-four.

While the Reds might have shown plenty of inconsistencies since opening up the 2023/24 campaign, they open this weekend’s fixtures sat just three points adrift of defending champions Manchester City.

Although United might be seeking a minor miracle in their bid to punch a Champions League knockout stage ticket this month, ten Hag’s men will be excited by a dominant record against Saturday’s guests.

Including a 1-0 win when the two sides last met back on May 20th, United have won seven of their previous eight showdowns against the Cherries.

However, while Bournemouth might have been at the centre of a real relegation scrap last month, Andoni Iraola’s side have come storming back in some style.

Claiming a shock 2-0 victory away at Crystal Palace earlier in the week and showing a real clinical edge in the final third, the former Rayo Vallecano boss has seen his squad muster 10 points from their last four Premier League showdowns.

Collecting points off of both Aston Villa and Newcastle on their recent purple patch, Bournemouth find the mood in their camp at a season-high.

With the mood around Anfield at a red-hot high, the former Premier League champions are now dreaming of the chance to mount a genuine title charge in 2024.

Mounting a stunning late comeback at home against Fulham last weekend as they secured a 4-3 win, the one-time Borussia Dortmund boss has seen his superstar squad continue to gain a string of plaudits.

Storming their way to the Europa League knockout stage and not really having to get out of second gear, Liverpool have lost just one of their previous 13 straight appearances across all competitions.

With that extended purple patch stemming all the way back to September 30th, Klopp’s title contenders will certainly be excited by a trip to south London on Saturday lunchtime.

On the flip side, putting in another nightmare performance earlier in the week as they suffered a toothless 2-0 loss at home against Bournemouth, there appears to be a huge amount of pressure on Roy Hodgson’s shoulders.

With many around Selhurst Park now looking over the shoulder at a potential relegation scrap, the ex-Liverpool boss has seen his squad collect just a single point from their last four Premier League appearances.
