Hull City welcome fellow strugglers Swansea City to the KCOM Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, in a relegation-battle six-pointer which could make or break the Tigers’ hopes of survival.
Marco Silva’s side could narrow the deficit to safety to a single point if results go their way, but Hull could be seven points behind in the race for survival with only 10 games remaining, making Saturday’s clash a must-win encounter.
Hull faltering after bright start under Silva
Hull City are currently 19th in the Premier League with 21 points from 27 games this season, having picked up just one win from their last six. The Tigers enjoyed a honeymoon period after the appointment of Marco Silva as manager – picking up seven points in his first four games – but have failed to win their last three and have picked up only one point since early February.
Fast start under Silva
(14/1/17) Hull City 3-1 AFC Bournemouth
(22/1/17) Chelsea 2-0 Hull City
(1/2/17) Manchester United 0-0 Hull City
(4/2/17) Hull City 2-0 Liverpool
Form has since dipped
(11/2/17) Arsenal 2-0 Hull City
(25/2/17) Hull City 1-1 Burnley
(4/3/17) Leicester City 3-1 Hull City
Hull City’s home form gives them a chance at getting a result, given they’ve won three and drawn four of their last eight games at the KCOM Stadium – picking up points to Everton, Manchester United and Liverpool among others. However, Swansea are no slouches and come into this weekend’s clash in fantastic form which could make for an entertaining affair.
Resurgent Swansea enjoying outstanding run of form
Paul Clement’s Swansea City side have been in fantastic form ahead of Saturday’s trip to the KCOM Stadium, and arguably are favourites to pick up all three points as a result of their superior run of results. The Welsh club are 16th in the Premier League table with 27 points from as many games this season, having won five of their last eight outings.
In 2017, Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are the only clubs who have avoided defeat against Swansea City in the Premier League, and with Liverpool being one of the scalps the Jacks have pulled off away from home, they should pose a real threat at the KCOM. With the two sides having so much to play, it wouldn’t be a major surprise to see them cancelling each other on the day. Hull City and Swansea City are 9/4 to draw, but who will come out on top?
