Spanish daily newspaper AS understands that Atletico Madrid starlet Saul could be leaving the club in the near future.
The 21-year-old, who had spent some time playing for arch rivals Real Madrid as a youngster, has seen his stock rise a great deal since returning from a loan spell with Rayo Vallecanoo, and he is now considered a first team regular at Vicente Calderon.
But, with his release clause standing at mere €24m at the moment, Atletico Madrid officials are eager to tie him down to a new contract.
Talks over a new and improved deal have been ongoing, but the latest reports suggest that negotiations have broken down over the player’s wage demands, believed to be €5 million per campaign.
Saul’s suitors Manchester United, Arsenal and Galatasaray are believed to be closely monitoring the situation, although the good news is that the midfielder has no plans to leave los Colchoneros just yet.
After holding PSV to a goalless draw in the first leg of their Champions League tie, Atletico are 4/11 to win the return leg and make it to the quarter-finals.
