Sporting Lisbon target Stefan Savic is looking to leave Manchester City on loan in January, his agent has revealed.
The Montenegro international joined City last June from Partizan in a deal worth seven million euros, but has been unable to hold down a regular place in Roberto Mancini’s side.
Having started only six matches to date for the Premier League side, Savic is looking to get more games under his belt elsewhere before being able to prove his worth at the Etihad Stadium.
“It is true that he is on his way out of City in January and that he will leave on loan,” the defender’s agent, Zoran Stojadinovic, told O JOGO.
The possibility of signing the 20-year-old on loan would appeal to Sporting, who are on the lookout for a quality centre-back in a cut-price deal.
Savic had already been on the Portuguese club’s agenda before his move to England, but Partizan’s asking price put the Lisbon outfit out of the race for the defender.
Zenit St Petersburg’s Bruno Alves has also been suggested as a possibility to bolster Sporting’s defence as the Portugal international has been on the fringes at the Russian club.
