Bundesliga giants Schalke have announced on their official website that they have completed the signing of Argentine forward Franco Di Santo from league rivals Werder Bremen.
The Miners met the player’s €6 million release clause, with the 26-year-old signing a lucrative four-year deal worth €4 million per campaign.
Franco Di Santo had initially hinted that he could sign a new deal with Werder Bremen, but he then received an offer he could not refuse from Schalke.
The former Chelsea starlet successfully kick-started his career in German Bundesliga, having largely impressed since joining from Wigan Athletic.
Di Santo went on to make 49 league appearances, scoring 17 goals in the process, quickly developing into a very important player for Werder Bremen.
The Argentina international will now be vying Klaas Jan Huntelaar for a starting berth at Veltins Arena, that is unless coach Andre Breitnereiter decides to play two up front next term.
