Schalke chief admits Raul could be offered a new deal

Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies admits the club could offer striker Raul a contract extension following his impressive performances at the start of the season.

The Spaniard has one year left on his €7 million per year deal at Veltis Arena and the German club need to assess their financial situation before offering Raul a new deal.

“I am proud with every minute that Raul plays for Schalke,” Tonnies told Sport1 television.

“He is an amazing personality. We will wait to see how the season goes and then find the right moment to discuss whether he could maybe add another year on.”

Schalke will reportedly offer Raul a one-year extension if they manage to ensure Champions League qualification.
