Bundesliga outfit Schalke have moved to confirm they are hoping to lure Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira to Veltins Arena.

The Germany international will be out of contract in the summer and he has already decided not to extend his stay at Santiago Bernabeu.

As a result, there have been quite a few top clubs showing interest in his services, with Schalke clearly leading the chase.

“I have a high opinion of Sami Khedira because he’s a leader who can improve the team,” Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies told Sport1.

“He has an incredible reputation with the national team. We’ve spoken (to Khedira) several times.

“Now, Horst Heldt (club’s sporting director) and Khedira’s agent must find a satisfactory solution.”

Khedira, 28, joined Real Madrid from Stuttgart some five years back and went on to make a total of 102 La Liga appearances.

PSG eyeing Lichtsteiner

French giants Paris Saint-Germain are ready to rekindle their interest in Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner, according to Le 10 Sport.

With Gregory van der Wiel expected to leave at the end of the season, the Saints are on the lookout for a right-sided defender.

And while they have so far been linked with Mathieu Debuchy, Ignazio Abate and Matteo Darmian, it would appear as though Stephan Lichtsteiner remains their primary target.

The Switzerland international recently extended his contract with Juventus until June 2017, and luring him away from Turin will be no easy task.

Lichtsteiner has proved to be one of club’s best signings in recent years, as he managed 11 goals and 16 assists in 117 Serie A appearances.

Juventus play host to Monaco in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, with home win paying 1/2.

Race hot up for Bruno Peres

La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that FC Porto, Napoli and AS Roma are all hot on the trail of Torino full-back Bruno Peres.

The Brazilian defender put his name in the shop window as he scored a magnificent solo goal in the local derby against Juventus back in November, and he has since continued the rich vein of form.

According to the latest reports, FC Porto lead the chase for his signature as they see the 25-year-old as a perfect replacement for Real Madrid bound Danilo.

La Gazzetta dello Sport has learned that the Dragons have submitted a €13 million proposal for his services.

However, the Portuguese giants could face stiff competition from AS Roma and Napoli, while Marseille have been credited with an interest as well.

Bruno Peres only joined Torino last summer from Santos and has so far managed two goals and three assists in 27 Serie A outings.
