Schalke dismiss Draxler-Bayern link

Schalke chairman Clemens Toennies has dismissed reports that Julian Draxler will join Bayern Munich at the end of the season, ESPN understands.

The highly rated midfielder was linked with a move to Arsenal in the recently closed winter transfer window, with rumours of a late bid for the 20 year old confirmed by the Bundesliga club’s Sporting Director Horst Heldt confirmed at the weekend.

Former Denmark international turned football pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft then took to Twitter to claim that European champions Bayern will look to finalise a deal for Draxler in the summer.

However, the notion was dismissed by Toennies though he did admit that he had doubts over whether the club, who currently sit fourth in the German top flight, could keep hold of the Germany international for entirety of his contract, which runs until 2018.

Schalke host Hannover on Sunday afternoon, and can be backed at 8/15 to take all three points.
