Bundesliga outfit Schalke are considering a move for Spartak Moscow defender Serdar Tasci, Sky Sport News has learned.
It is no secret that the Miners are in the market for an experienced central defender with both Benedikt Howedes and Matija Nastasic currently sidelined through injury.
The Miners were reportedly keen on Peruvian defender Carlos Zambrano, but Eintracht’s high asking price appears to have proved a stumbling block to any deal.
As a result, Schalke are turning their attention to former Stuttgart captain Serdar Tasci, who is a cheaper alternative to the Peru hotshot.
Tasci has another year and a half left on his deal with Spartak Moscow, but it is believed that he hopes to return to German Bundesliga at the earliest opportunity.
His suitors Schalke currently sit two points behind Champions League positions, but they can be backed at 5/2 to achieve a top 4 finish for the fourth time in last five years.
