Bundesliga outfit Schalke are ready to welcome midfielder Johannes Geis back to Veltins Arena, according to manager Christian Heidel.
The 24-year-old joined Sevilla on loan with an option to buy last summer, but he has since played just 3 minutes of competitive football for los Rojiblancos.
Considering that Geis does not appear to be in the first team plans of head coach Eduardo Berizzo, chances are Sevilla will not exercise the purchase option, and they could even cut the loan deal short in January.
If that was to happen, Schalke would clearly have no problem taking the player back, especially since neither the head coach nor manager Christian Heidel were happy to see the midfielder leave.
“If Johannes returns without playing practice, it would not be good,” Heidel explained to Bild.
“But, we would not have any problems taking him back. The coach and I were, first of all, against letting Geis leave.”
Prior to joining Sevilla, Geis had made 46 Bundesliga appearances for the Miners, scoring 2 goals.
