Bayern Munich full-back Rafinha could be the subject of a summer bid from former club Schalke, Bild has revealed.
The Miners are looking to a sign a new right-back to provide competition for Atsuto Uchida and they have made Eintracht hotshot Sebastian Jung their number one target.
However, after the 22-year-old opted to sign a new deal in Frankfurt, Schalke officials turned their attention towards Bayern Munich defender Rafinha.
The Brazilian had largely impressed during the five years he spent at Veltins Arena and club chiefs are hoping to lure him back to Gelsenkirchen.
And while the defender would probably be interested in returning to Schalke, Bayern Munich are not really prepared to let him leave.
Even if Rafinha is playing second fiddle to captain Philipp Lahm, the Bavarians are satisfied with his performances and are ready to offer him a new deal at Alianz Arena.
The 27-year-old has just over a year left on his current contract and may express his desire to leave the club in the summer.
