Schalke are on the verge of signing Rubin Kazan midfielder Roman Eremenko, according to Russian newspaper Izvestia.
The Miners have already stayed without Lewis Holtby and with Julian Draxler also looking to leave in the summer, they are desperate to add at least another creative player to their ranks.
They have, therefore, made Rubin Kazan schemer Roman Eremenko their number one target in the summer transfer window.
The Finland international was on the verge of joining the Miners some two years back, but the deal eventually failed to materialize.
Schalke are, however, now set to make things right and they have already opened discussions with the Russian club.
Even the player’s official representative has confirmed that an unnamed German club are keen on his client.
“A German club, whose name I would like to keep a secret, are seriously interested in the services of Roman Eremenko,” agent Marco Trabucchi confessed to Izvestia.
“Let me just note that it is not Bayern or Borussia.”
Roma Eremenko, 26, has spent last two seasons at Rubin Kazan, making 41 Russian Premier League appearances and scoring 5 goals in the process.
