According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Schalke are one of the two German clubs interested in trying to sign West Ham United defender Jeremy Ngakia.
The 19-year-old is set to be out of a contract with the club at the end of the month, with the expectation being that he will leave after failing to come to terms on a new deal that would keep him in East London.
In taking such a risk, it’s clear to see that Ngakia has earned the respect of many clubs across Europe – and that includes Schalke.
West Ham was formerly known for having one of the best academies in English football, and while some will argue that the same is still true nowadays, it’s evident that the talent themselves would much rather try and hone their craft elsewhere.
Whether or not Ngakia can find success if he does go to Germany, though, depends on how much he commits himself.
