Sport Bild has learned that Schalke are keeping close tabs on midfielders Marko Marin and Zlatko Junuzovic.
The Miners are forced to find a replacement for Leon Goretzka, while fellow midfielder Max Meyer could also leave on a free transfer in the summer.
As a result, Schalke are looking at potential targets and they seem ready to step up their interest.
Werder Bremen star Zlatko Junuzovic is one of the first names on their hit-list and the good news is the 30-year-old will be a free agent in the summer.
At the same time, Schalke are weighing up summer bid for former Germany starlet, who has kick-started his career at Olympiakos.
The 29-year-old impressed to score 11 goals in 34 league appearances for the Greek giants, and he could be available for as little as €5 million.
