Bundesliga side Schalke have expressed interest in Bayer Leverkusen keeper Rene Adler, according to Kicker.
The Germany international is currently recovering from a knee injury, but it looks as though Bayer Leverkusen chiefs are already thinking about his replacement.
Adler has one year left on his current contract and as Bayer look unable to meet his demands, they are now preparing for life without the Germany keeper.
Bernd Leno, who has been in impressive form since arriving on loan from Stuttgart, is due to return to Mercedes-Benz Arena on 1st January 2012, but it looks as though his stay in Leverkusen could be prolonged.
Bayer chiefs are hoping to agree a new loan deal for the 19-year-old with an option to make his transfer permanent at the end of the season, as they believe Leno would be a great replacement for Adler.
This basically means that Adler could be sold in January so as to avoid losing him on free next summer, with Schalke and HSV reportedly keen on the 26-year-old.
