Bundesliga side Schalke have taken a keen interest in Sampdoria midfielder Roberto Soriano, Tuttosport has suggested.
The Miners plan to offload their highest earner Kevin-Prince Boateng in the summer and they see the Italian footballer as a perfect replacement.
Schalke have already made the first step, with assistant coach and former Blucerchiati star Attilio Lombardo visiting Sampdoria training camp to enquire about the possibility of luring Soriano to Veltins Arena.
According to Tuttosport, the Serie A side have informed Lombardo that it would take around €10 million to sign the 24-year-old footballer.
The interesting thing is that Soriano was born in Germany to Italian parents, and he spent the majority of his youth career with Bayern Munich, before moving to Sampdoria in 2009.
His current side surprised everyone by climbing to fourth in the Serie A standings and they are now available at 9/1 to finish in top 3 and secure Champions League qualification.
