Portuguese daily Record has suggested that Schalke are weighing up summer bid for Sporting Lisbon defender Cedric Soares.
The 21-year-old has managed to nail down a regular starting berth at Stadio Jose Alvalade this season, and his solid displays have not gone unnoticed.
According to Record, Bundesliga giants Schalke are keeping close tabs on the talented defender with a view of signing him in the summer.
The Miners are looking to sign another right-sided defender to provide competition for Atsuto Uchida and they are seriously thinking about making a move for Cedric.
The interesting thing is that the defender was born in Gelsenkirchen, which means he is likely to be interested in a return to Germany.
Cedric joined Sporting Lisbon youth academy when he was 7 and has since developed into a high-quality player.
He has represented every national team from the Under-17 side and is now a regular starter for Portugal Under-21 team.
