Schalke make a move on Luiz Gustavo

German media outlet Sport Bild understands that Schalke are readying summer bid for Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo.

The Miners are not too happy with their current options in the middle of the park and with Leon Goretzka heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, they are in the market for midfield reinforcements.

Considering that Stambouli has failed to impress while Bentaleb and Geis are too inexperienced, Schalke want Luiz Gustavo to be their new midfield general.

The Miners are aware the Brazilian is considering his options at Volkswagen Arena and the good news is the player’s contract is due to expire in just over a year.

Gustavo also has a release clause, believed to be lower than €20 million, meaning a summer exit could be on the cards.

Nevertheless, the Brazilian still has suitors among Europe’s top sides, and chances are some of them will make their moves in the summer.
