Schalke are ready to challenge Wolfsburg for the signature of winger Vieirinha, Bild has suggested.
The highly rated footballer will be out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he can already negotiate with interested parties.
And while Wolfsburg are prepared to offer the player a new deal until June 2015 worth €3.5 million a year, the player’s agents are holding out for at least €4 million.
Meanwhile, Schalke look set to take advantage of the situation and lure the Portugal international to Veltins Arena with a proposal worth €4.5 million per campaign.
The Miners want Vieirinha to replace Jefferson Farfan and they are clearly prepared to go to great lengths to secure his signature.
The winger arrived to Wolfsburg from PAOK three years ago and has since managed 3 goals and 14 assists in 78 Bundesliga outings.
The two clubs vying for his signature are also involved in the Bundesliga top 4 chase, with Wolves and Miners priced at 1/10 and 11/8 respectively to finish in top 4.
