Schalke prepare summer clear out
Schalke are planning a summer clear out sale as they look to trim down their enormous wage bill, Bild understands.
The Miners are doing everything they can to persuade star player Klaas Jan Huntelaar into signing a new contract and with that in mind the club chiefs are looking for ways to improve the club’s financial situation.
Bild claims that Schalke officials are ready to offer the Dutch forward a new contract worth around €8 million per season.
However, the Bundesliga outfit will first have to release some of the funds in their budget and they aim to do so by selling a number of fringe players.
Jurado, Sergio Escudero and Alexander Baumjohan are all expected to leave in the summer, whereas six players who are currently on loan at other clubs could also follow in their footsteps.
These nine players currently earn a total of €15 million per season, but getting rid of them will be no easy task, according to general manager Horst Heldt.
“The next few weeks will be very labor intensive and exhausting,” Heldt said to Bild.
Klopp rejects Chelsea rumours
Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has rejected speculation linking him with a coaching job at Chelsea.
The Premier League outfit appointed Roberto Di Matteo as caretaker manager after Andre Villas-Boas was sacked, but the Italian coach has already ruled out taking over the reigns on permanent basis.
Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but he has now moved to deny those reports.
“I can turn them down straight away,” Klopp told Sky after the German Cup semi-final win over Greuther Furth on Tuesday night.
“I will not be moving there. But I do think it is cool that I am being named in the same breath as Mourinho and Guardiola.
“That is enough for me – that is already a personal triumph, but I am not available, sorry.”
The 44-year-old took over the reigns at Borussia Dortmund in 2008 and has since led BVB to their first Bundesliga title after nine years.
The Millionaires currently have a five-point cushion at the top of Bundesliga standings and look set to defend the league title.
Agent: Rossi has Champions League ambition
The agent of Villarreal forward Giuseppe Rossi has explained that his client would only be interested in joining a club that secure Champions League qualification this term.
The Italian striker is widely tipped to leave El Madrigal at the end of the season, even if he is currently sidelined with injury.
Rossi’s agent says that his client is only focused on returning into action before the end of the season.
“Unfortunately this has been a negative season for Giuseppe due to the injury that ruled him out,” Federico Pastorello told Sky Sport Italia.
“At the moment he is concentrated exclusively on his recovery and maybe we’ll see him play in the last few Liga games.”
While Pastorello confirms that Inter are interested in the player’s services, he claims that his client would prefer to join a club with Champions League ambitions.
“Giuseppe really cares about Villarreal and in the past rejected important offers, but he has never hidden the fact his dream is to play for a top club.
“Inter? We do consider them a top club, but he’d like to play in the Champions League and match himself against the best. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’d turn the Nerazzurri down, though.”
Rossi has missed a big part of the season through injury, but he did manage to score 3 goals in 9 La Liga appearances.
