According to reports from Germany, Schalke are hot on the trail of Rafael van der Vaart.
Felix Magath has already snatched two former Real Madrid stars in Raul and Metzelder, and the experienced coach now wants to sign Rafa van der Vaart.
After the arrival of players like Ozil and Canales, the Dutch midfielder no longer features in Jose Mourinho’s plans but he, nonetheless, is looking to stay at Santiago Bernanbeu.
“Schalke are a great club. I have heard a lot of good things about the club. But, I really want to stay at Real.”
Schalke are willing to offer around 10 million euros for the Dutch midfielder and maybe the prospect of a guaranteed starting berth will be enough to lure him to Gelsenkirchen.
