Schalke sign Uchida

(GSM) – Bundesliga giants Schalke 04 have confirmed the signing of Japan international Atsuto Uchida from Kashima Antlers for an undisclosed fee.

The Japanese player, who becomes the first of his nation to sign for the Royal Blues, has signed a three-year contract.

Uchida becomes Felix Magath’s fourth new signing this summer as he prepares his team for the dual challenge of Bundesliga and Champions League football next season.

Uchida joins fellow new boys Christoph Metzelder, Erik Jendrisek and Tim Hoogland at the club who have lost Kevin Kuranyi, Gerald Asamoah and Ze Roberto since finishing second last season.
