The 22-year-old German international Leon Goretzka has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Bundesliga this season.
The talented Schalke star has gone from strength to strength with his performances during the current campaign which set a host of Europe’s top clubs on red alert.
Goretzka is heading into the final six months of his contract with Schalke and his future has been the subject of an intense debate over the past couple of weeks.
Schalke are said to have prepared a lucrative contract renewal for their highly-rated star but most recent reports from German media outlet Bild claim that Goretzka remains undecided on his future.
The German international is not short on offers with Premier League outfit Liverpool believed to be leading the race to sign him this January.
The Reds have already reinforced their squad with a defensive world-record signing of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton but Jurgen Klopp is keen to add more quality signings in a bid to strengthen his squad and to secure a direct replacement for Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho.
Goretzka is said to be tempted by the prospect of playing under Jurgen Klopp and reuniting with former teammate Joel Matip, but knowing that the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich are also in the race, the 22-year-old faces a tough decision.
