German media outlet Sport Bild has learned that Schalke are readying summer bid for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.
The 27-year-old will be out of contract in the summer and he is almost certain to leave los Blancos on a free transfer at the end of the season.
According to Sport Bild, Schalke have joined the chase for his signature, although they will have to pay top dollar if they want to lure Khedira to Veltins Arena.
With Arsenal, Chelsea and few more top clubs keen on his services, the Miners would probably have to make the Germany star their highest paid player.
Former AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is the club’s highest earner at the moment, with his yearly salary standing at €8 million.
Sami Khedira has scored a total of 6 goals in 102 La Liga outings, but with Lucas Silva joining in January, it is clear his spell at Santiago Bernabeu is drawing to a close.
