French newspaper Le Parisien has learned that Schalke have joined the race for Sochaux full-back Sebastien Corchia.
The talented footballer is believed to be on the verge of joining Lyon, but the Bundesliga side will attempt to hijack the deal at the last minute.
It is no secret the Miners are searching for a new right-sided defender and they seem to have turned to Corchia after failing to lure their former player Rafinha from Bayern Munich.
Schalke have already spoiled Lyon’s plans by refusing to make Michel Bastos’ loan deal permanent and they look to pour more misery on the French giants.
It remains to be seen whether the player will be interested in an offer from Germany after virtually agreeing a switch to Stade Gerland, but Schalke officials are certainly not prepared to give up.
Sebastien Corchia, 23, has clocked up a total of 34 Ligue 1 appearances this season, registering one goal and two assists.
