Schalke are pondering a January bid for Hoffenheim striker Chinedu Obasi, Bild has revealed.
The Miners are actively looking for a replacement for Jefferson Farfan, who picked up a serious knee injury last month.
The Peruvian international has just over six months left on his contract, meaning that he could leave for free at the end of the season.
Schalke now want to replace the highly rated forward and they have set their sights on Hoffenheim striker Chinedu Obasi.
The Nigerian forward has yet to register a Bundesliga goal this season, but he is still held in high regard by the Schalke officials.
Hoffenheim are reportedly prepared to cash in on the player who has already caused several incidents this season, and they value Obasi at €7 million.
