Schalke seem to be in a mess right now, but one thing is for certain – they will look to Premier League clubs when finding new signings. At least that is what English media claim, as the Bundesliga side is interested in signing Liverpool’s Taiwo Awoniyi.
The 21-year old striker is currently on loan at Belgian Jupiler league side Mouscron, where he has shined. Awoniyi is Nigerian youngster who has six goals to his name already, in just seven appearances and several European clubs might be paying attention to him as well.
Awoniyi is reported to be Schalke’s desire and sources from England say they would have to pay around £10m in order to get him. Schalke already signed a youngster from a Premier League club, when Rabbi Matondo joined for somewhere around £11m from Manchester City.
Matondo never played for City’s first team, but did not have much trouble breaking into the starting lineup in Gelsenkirchen and that could be a similar path for Liverpool’s Awoniyi.
