Bundesliga giants Schalke have confirmed they are set to sign Bochum starlet Leon Goretzka.
Schalke general manager Horst Heldt moved to confirm reports that the Miners are on the verge of signing the German hotshot.
“I can confirm that we have reached an agreement with the player and he wants to come to us,” Heldt confessed to Bild.
“In the coming days we will go to VFL (Bochum) to resolve the final details.”
Schalke have produced quite a coup by winning the race for the 18-year-old midfielder considering that he was followed by a number of Europe’s top sides.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund were keen, just like Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Leon Goretzka came through the youth ranks at Bochum and he was only handed his first team debut last August.
The player, nonetheless, immediately made a starting berth his own and went on to score 4 goals in 32 league matches this season.
He is regarded as one of Germany’s hottest prospects, along with Max Meyer and Julian Draxler, who are also playing for Schalke.
