Scharner to quit Wigan

Wigan midfielder Paul Scharner has revealed that he will quit the club at the end of the season.

Scharner was on the bench for the win over Arsenal and has put off fresh contract talks with manager Roberto Martinez.

The former Brann star claims Everton, Fulham, Sunderland and Aston Villa all want to sign him for next season.

The Austria international said: “Fulham, Everton, Aston Villa and Sunderland are interested in signing me, which would even guarantee me a spot in Europe. So there is no reason to stay here.”

Scharner joined Wigan five years ago.
