The Mirror understands that Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel has emerged as a shock target for Manchester United, the club where his father Peter spent a successful eight years in the nineties.
The Danish shot stopper has been in fine form for the Foxes this season, keeping thirteen clean sheets to help his side to the top of the division.
Schmeichel is out of contract in the summer, and is yet to commit to a new deal despite the East Midlands side being almost certain of a place back in the top flight next season.
They extended their unbeaten league run to sixteen games with victory over Blackpool on Saturday afternoon, leaving them seven points ahead of second place Burnley, with a game in hand.
United manager David Moyes is on the lookout for a new goalkeeper to provide competition for first choice David De Gea, with Anders Lindegaard expect to secure a move away from the club at the end of this campaign.
