Fantastic news for Manchester United fans today as it seems possible that Paul Scholes may make an appearance in tonight’s Carling Cup quarter-final against Blackburn.
The thirty-four year-old midfielder, still one of the best in the country, underwent knee surgery after damaging his knee ligaments against Aalborg at the end of September.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson comfirmed that Scholes is ready for a return, “I have Paul Scholes in mind. He is on the verge of playing again following his operation. He is training well and chomping at the bit to get started. A place on the bench with perhaps a few minutes’ pitch time could be good for him. We will see how things go.”
He might be in the latter stages of his career but I still think that Manchester United are a far better team with him in it than they are without him.
