Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim have signed Philippines international Stephan Schrock from second-tier side Greuther Furth on a three-year deal.
The German-born defender will join Hoffenheim on a free transfer when his contract with the current 2.Bundesliga leaders expires at the end of the season.
Schrock, who made his international debut for the Philippines in a World Cup qualifier against Sri Lanka last June, is relishing the opportunity to join the top flight club.
“I’m very much looking forward to the challenge at Hoffenheim, who have made a name for themselves on their way to becoming an established side in the Bundesliga,” he told bundesliga.de.
“I can take the next step in my career here.”
Hoffenheim boss Markus Babbel was delighted with the signing of the 25-year-old, who was born to a German father and Filipina mother and represented Germany as a junior before switching to the Philippines for their 2014 World Cup qualification campaign.
“Stephan Schrock was a prime transfer target for mine. He has all the qualities that a modern day defender needs to have,” he said.
“In signing him we have gained the necessary substance and will have more alternatives in our defensive department for the future.”
