Germany’s Andre Schuerrle says the ‘little details’ will be decisive in determining the winner of his side’s Euro 2012 semi-final with Italy.
Germany have been impressive in their run to the last four, winning all four games so far, but Schuerrle has seen enough of Cesare Prandelli’s side to know they will provide a major threat on Thursday.
The Bayer Leverkusen forward told the German FA’s official website: “In this game the little details and moments will be decisive.
“I see the Italians as very strong, defensively and offensively they have strong players.”
Schuerrle said Italy’s recent performances have been somewhat of a surprise, but remains confident Germany can overcome them in Warsaw.
“So far this tournament they (Italy) have surprised me since I didn’t consider them amongst the top contenders,” he said.
“But I am convinced that we will leave the pitch as winners if we give 100 percent.”
The 21-year-old was in no doubt as to who provides the main threat, highlighting Andrea Pirlo as the individual to be stopped if his side are to reach Sunday’s final.
“We know about his (Pirlo’s) qualities, we know that he wants to pass every ball through. His passes are very precise and knows exactly when to time them,” he said.
“Our role is to keep him under pressure constantly and try to hinder his game. In any case, we have to prevent him from getting space at any cost.”
