(GSM) – Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is still Arsenal’s number one target, according to the Mirror.
Arsene Wenger has seemingly lost faith in his number one keeper Manuel Almunia and has been linked with a move for Fulham’s veteran keeper.
Reports had earlier linked the Gunners with a £5.5m bid for Italian keeper Federico Marchetti.
Marchetti was put up for sale by Cagliari after declaring an interest in moving away from his current club.
However, the Mirror reckons Wenger has his sight set on Schwarzer and will not be trying to sign Marchetti.
The Italian keeper, who was among the flops of the Italian team at the 2010 World Cup, has been tipped to make a switch to Champions League outfit Sampdoria.
