Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger could miss the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea on Friday with an ankle injury.
The 29-year-old limped off in the second half of Bayern’s 1-1 draw at Freiburg on Tuesday.
And manager Pep Guardiola confirmed after the match that Schweinsteiger could miss the clash with Chelsea in Prague.
“He strained his ankle,” the Spaniard said.
“Tomorrow there will be a medical check. I hope he can play on Friday but we do not know that yet.”
Captain Philipp Lahm added that the injury “does not look good”.
Guardiola rested a number of players ahead of Friday’s fixture, with Arjen Robben, Lahm, Franck Ribery and Mario Mandzukic all beginning the match at the Mage Solar Stadion on the bench, with the latter three making appearances.
