Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has had a claim against him for damages worth nearly a million euros thrown out by a court here on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Bayern Munich star, who has won 72 caps for his country and scored 19 goals, was facing a claim for 833,000 euros (1.25m US dollars) in damages plus interest for lost commissions from a German lawyer.
The lawyer, who is also the manager of a player advisory firm, claimed that in November 2005 a five-year contract between him and Schweinsteiger to represent the Germany star had been verbally agreed by a handshake.
But the court threw out the claim and the ruling is expected to be confirmed at a later date.
Schweinsteiger scored three goals for Germany in their qualification campaign to help his side finish top of their group and book their place at next year’s World Cup finals in South Africa.
