Scottish international Garry O’Connor has been arrested for suspicion of possession of cocaine.

O’Connor was allegedly caught with the drug after a night out in Edinburgh on the weekend, with police detaining the former Hibernian, Birmingham City and Barnsley striker, only to release him later.

“A 28-year-old man was detained and released pending further inquiries,” a police spokesman confirmed.

O’Connor, who has scored four goals for Scotland from 16 appearances, is currently without a club after the 28-year-old left Barnsley last month by mutual consent.
