Celtic kept their hopes of a domestic treble alive with a 4-0 thrashing of 10-man Dundee United in their Scottish Cup quarter-final.
The Scottish Premier League leaders dismantled Dundee with four second-half goals after Dundee defender Robbie Nielson was sent off in the first half for an elbow on Georgios Samaras.
Joe Ledley had time and space to pick his spot following Anthony Stokes’ cross eight minutes into the second half, before Samaras headed in at the back post from a set piece for a two-goal cushion.
Stokes consolidated Celtic’s dominance with a third four minutes from time after he had hit the crossbar, and returning captain Scott Brown made it four from the spot following a foul on Samaras.
Also on Sunday, a Rory Fallon double saw Aberdeen join Celtic in the semi-finals with a 2-1 win at Motherwell.
Fallon nodded home four minutes in and bagged his second in the 41st minute as the home side were made to pay for a missed penalty.
Nicky Law managed to pull one back for Motherwell but Aberdeen held on to clinch their first win between the two sides in three-and-a-half years.
Third in the SPL, Motherwell will have the chance at immediate redemption when the two sides meet in the league next Saturday.
