Dundee United continued their surge up the Scottish Premier League table with a 2-0 win over Hearts on Wednesday.
United striker Johnny Russell made the most of heavy fog at Tannadice Park to slam a late brace past Hearts, lifting his club to their fourth straight victory and to fourth on the SPL table.
With five rounds to go, the Terrors seem almost certainties for a top-six finish, while Hearts remain third on the table and 12 points clear of United despite back-to-back losses.
Both sides struggled with visibility in the heavy mist and the hosts’ opener came as something of a surprise, as Russell rose to meet Danny Swanson’s free kick and looped a header over Hearts goalkeeper Marian Kello in the 83rd minute.
Russell found a second as the game crossed into added time, stabbing Paul Dixon’s cross into the net from the six-yard line to seal the Terrors’ eighth straight unbeaten result.
