Goals from Craig Beattie and substitute Suso Santana helped Hearts to a 2-0 defeat of Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday.
Paulo Sergio’s side entered the Edinburgh derby as favourites and a big crowd was on hand at Tynecastle to watch the much-anticipated clash.
Beattie gave the hosts the lead on 29 minutes with his second goal in three matches for his new club after beating Hibernian keeper Graham Stack.
Hibernian fought hard to stay in the match but they failed to take advantage of their chances.
And they were finally killed off by Spanish substitute Santana, who netted in the fourth minute of injury time.
The home win was Hearts’ first in front of their fans since January 14, and leaves them sixth in the standings.
Hibernian remain in relegation trouble, just four points clear of Dunfermline at the foot of the table.
