Dunfermline were relegated from the Scottish Premier League after a 4-0 rout at the hands of Hibernian at Easter Road.
Jim Jefferies’ side needed to win to keep their hopes of survival alive heading into the final round of the season, while a point was enough to secure Hibs’ top-flight status for next season.
Visiting Dunfermline conceded three times in the opening 15 minutes as goals from Matt Doherty, Eoin Doyle and Garry O’Connor all but ended their survival hopes.
Paul Hanlon volleyed home a fourth in the 81st-minute to seal Dunfermline’s fate and secure just the second league win at home for his side this season.
HIbs can now devout all of their attention to the Scottish Cup final with Hearts, while Dunfermline close at their season with a clash against Kilmarnock.
