Two second-half goals gave Kilmarnock a 2-0 victory over St Mirren in the Scottish Premier League on Monday.
Liam Kelly and Craig Bryson found the net at St Mirren Park as Kilmarnock claimed their seventh win in 10 matches in the league, while struggling the struggling hosts fell further towards the foot of the table.
The visitors came out firing with striker Michael Higdon having two efforts on goal early in the piece.
St Mirren’s Darren McGregor nearly put his side in front just before half-time, but Kilmarnock goalkeeper Cammy Bell pulled off a fine save from the defender’s volley.
Kilmarnock eventually took the lead on 64 minutes after a quickly taken free kick.
Alexei Eremenko fed the ball to Jamie Hamill, whose pass across goal found Liam Kelly unmarked for the simplest of tap-ins.
Captain Craig Bryson then sealed the three points for Mixu Paatelainen’s men 15 minutes later when his deflected shot from 25 yards beat St Mirren goalkeeper Paul Gallacher.
Kilmarnock move to fourth on the table – though still nine points behind third-placed Hearts – while St Mirren are five points clear of bottom side Hamilton, who have two games in hand.
